How Acquired: Selected by the Galaxy in the third round of Phase 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Process. Signed with the club on December 23, 2011.

A long-time MLS veteran and a key ingredient in Seattle’s recent success in the U.S. Open Cup, Noonan joins the Galaxy in an attempt to add another veteran presence in the club’s locker room. Able to play on either wing or up front centrally, he will be looking to add depth to the LA attack while also returning to the goal-scoring form that saw him reach double figures in goals during each of his first two seasons in MLS. He will be asked to play a bigger role at the start of the MLS season as he is ineligible for the 2011/12 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League after playing for Seattle earlier in the competition.

MLS Highlights

2011: He appeared in nine regular season games and 17 matches in all competitions as he helped Seattle win their third straight U.S. Open Cup and qualify for the knockout stage of the CONCACAF Champions League, tallying an assist in each of those competitions. 2010: Signed with the Sounders in March and went on to appear in 12 regular season games, making eight starts while scoring a goal and adding an assist. He scored his first goal in MLS for the club at Philadelphia on 6/27, three weeks after recording his first assist for the club in a 3-0 home win over his former club, New England. He also scored in a friendly win over Boca Juniors, though he missed the last four months of the season because of an injury. 2009: Began the season in Columbus, playing in five games for the Crew, recording one assist, before being traded to Colorado in June. He played in 17 games for the Rapids, scoring in a win over New York on 7/25 and in a loss at FC Dallas on 10/17. 2008: Returned to MLS in August after spending the first half of the year playing for Aalesunds FK in Norway. The Revolution traded his rights to Columbus and he helped the Crew win their first MLS Cup, scoring once and adding two assists in 11 games for the club as they also claimed the Supporters’ Shield. He made his Crew debut on 8/6 and tallied his first assist a month later vs. New England in a 4-0 win. His first goal for the club came on 9/13 in a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC at BMO Field before he added an assist in the club’s next game, a 3-1 home win over New York on 9/18, giving him a goal and two assists in a three-game stretch. He was in the 18-man squad for all four of the Crew’s playoff games, but he did not play en route to winning his first MLS Cup. 2007: Helped New England win their first U.S. Open Cup and was named the MVP of the tournament Final after scoring his team’s first goal and setting up their other two in a 3-2 win over FC Dallas. He had seven goals and four assists during the regular season and helped lead New England to a third straight berth in MLS Cup. He scored in consecutive games in June and then had three goals and an assist in a three-game span from 7/22-8/2, helping the Revolution go 2-0-1 in that time. He recorded his final multi-goal game for the club on 9/15, scoring on either side of halftime in a 4-2 home win over FC Dallas. He started all four of his team’s postseason games, including MLS Cup, which was his third straight start in the championship game. 2006: Was limited for much of the season by injuries, and scored just one goal while adding three assists. His lone goal came early in a 1-0 home win over the Red Bulls on 9/9, but he was forced to leave that game because of an injury. He returned in time for the playoffs, scoring the series-tying goal in Game Two of the Conference Semifinal Series with Chicago and then scoring in the deciding shootout. He then assisted on Taylor Twellman’s first half goal in the Eastern Conference Championship to send his team back to MLS Cup. 2005: Scored eight goals and added seven assists in 21 games, helping lead his team to MLS Cup for the first time in his career. He scored four times in the first six games of the year, helping his team go 3-0-1 in those games. Was limited to just 11 games from 6/11 until 9/24, but still managed to scored four goals and add six assists in that time, including assists in four straight games late in the regular season. He added a goal in the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series against the MetroStars, tying the series at 2-2 on aggregate and allowing New England to win the series en route to a meeting with the Galaxy in MLS Cup. 2004: Finished tied with the MetroStars Amado Guevara as the league’s scoring champion, scoring a career-high 11 times in 29 games for New England while also adding eight assists, which were also a career-high. An MLS All-Star for the first time in his career, Noonan scored in the season-opening loss at LA and then tallied his second career hat trick on 6/2, scoring all three of his team’s goals in a 3-2 win at Kansas City. His only other multi-goal game of the year came on 9/18 in a 6-1 home win over Colorado, with the Revolution going 3-2-3 when he scored. He added a goal in the 85th minute of the Eastern Conference Championship at D.C. United, helping to send that game to extra time and eventually penalty kicks. 2003: Selected by the New England Revolution in the first round of the 2003 MLS SuperDraft and went on to be a finalist for the MLS Rookie of the Year award, scoring 10 goals and adding seven assists in 29 games. He added two more goals in the postseason, scoring in each leg of the Conference Semifinal Series against the MetroStars as New England reached the Eastern Conference Championship. He made his MLS debut in the season opening draw at Chicago on 4/13 and recorded his first assist a week later in the club’s home opener vs. Columbus. He scored the first goal of his career on 7/12 vs. the MetroStars, the first of seven regular season goals that he scored against them that season, including his first multi-goal game on 9/13 in a 2-1 win at Giants Stadium. On 10/25 he recorded his first career hat trick, scoring three times in a 5-2 home win over them.

Career Highlights

Joined Aalesunds FK of the Norwegian Tippeligaen, which is the top level of soccer in Norway. He played 11 games for the club in all competitions before returning to MLS in August 2008.

College Highlights

A four-year starter at Indiana, Noonan was the runner-up for the Missouri Athletic Club Player of the Year award in 2001 as a junior and the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy following his senior season. He finished his college career with 48 goals and 31 assists during his four years in Bloomington and led the Hoosiers to the College Cup three times, including an NCAA Championship in 1999. A three-time NSCAA All-American, Noonan led his team in scoring in each of his final three seasons, including career-highs of 16 goals and 12 assists as a junior when he led Indiana to the College Cup Final. He ranks seventh in school history in goals scored and 12th in assists.

National Team

Noonan has collected 14 caps with the U.S. National Team, scoring once. He made his international debut under Bruce Arena in a friendly against Haiti on March 13, 2004. He scored his first goal a year later, tallying the first goal in a 3-0 win over Colombia in Fullerton, Calif. He appeared in four World Cup Qualifiers that year and also helped the U.S, win the CONCACAF Gold Cup, appearing in three games at the tournament. He finished the year appearing in nine games for the U.S., helping them record a 7- 1-1 record in those contests. He last appeared for the U.S. in January 2008, recording an assist in a 2-0 win over Sweden at The Home Depot Center.
