GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Jose Torres lifted the Copa MX with his Tigres UANL side on Wednesday, going 90 minutes in the Monterrey club’s 3-0 victory in the final over Alebrijes de Oaxaca at Estadio Universitario.

Tigres went into the game heavy favorites against the second-division club, but struggled to overcome a stubborn Oaxaca until Juninho won, then converted a penalty kick, to open the scoring in the 36th minute.

Torres featured in his usual central midfield role, becoming the main artery of the team in transition from defense to attack. Although he was not directly involved in his team's goals, it was a positive performance for the Texan.

Torres – who was sent off this past weekend against Jonathan Bornstein's Atlante in Liga MX play – adds the Copa MX to the 2007 Clausura championship and the three CONCACAF titles he won with Pachuca.
