An out-and-out striker, Bengtson was on the Revolution’s radar for several years before transferring to the club in July 2012 ... excels in all aspects of the attack, including playing with his back to goal, combining with teammates, creating his own shot and supporting the attack into the area … a proven scorer for both club and country, Bengtson scored more than 60 goals in more than 150 games across all competitions since 2007 before arriving in New England ... a three-time scoring champion in Honduras’ La Liga Nacional (2010 Clausura, 2011 Apertura, 2011 Clausura) ... a right-footed player ... has developed into one of the Honduras national team’s most lethal and consistent scorers.

Professional:

2013: Made 16 regular-season appearances, including 12 starts, with all of his playing time coming as a forward. Scored one goal, the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute at Chicago (March 9) in the team’s season-opener. Missed the Kansas City match (March 23) while on international duty with Honduras ... his start at Chivas USA (June 29) was his first since May 25 against Toronto. Missed the Montreal (Sept. 8) match after being re-called by Honduras for World Cup Qualifiers against Mexico (Sept. 6) and Panama (Sept. 10). His appearance against D.C. United (Sept. 21) was his first since Colorado (July 17). His interception of a poor defensive pass at New York (Oct. 5) set up Diego Fagundez’s goal. Missed the Montreal match (Oct. 12) while on international duty with Honduras. Made one appearance against Sporting Kansas City (Nov. 6) in the MLS Cup Playoffs, playing five minutes as an extra-time substitute at Sporting Park in Leg 2 of the teams’ series. Made one appearance in the U.S. Open Cup, scoring a goal at Rochester (May 28) in the third round.

2012: Signed with the club on July 5 and was officially added to the roster on July 6. Made 13 appearances, including 10 starts, while balancing significant international commitments throughout the summer and fall. Scored two goals. Scored his first career goal in his Revolution – and MLS – debut in a 30-minute substitute appearance against New York (July 8), becoming the fifth Revolution player to score a goal in a MLS debut with the Revs. Departed to join Honduras’ Olympic team on Monday, July 16, and returned to make his first career start at forward against Montreal (Aug. 12). Scored his second goal of the season in the start at forward at Columbus (Aug. 25). Missed the match against Columbus (Sept. 5) while with the Honduras National team for FIFA World Cup Qualifier matches against Cuba (Sept. 7 and 11). Returned to the Revs with a start at D.C. (Sept. 15) and lined up with the starters for each of the final six games of the season.

Before MLS: Began his professional career in the 2007 Apertura season with Honduras’ Vida ... played with his original club through the 2010 Apertura season ... in each of his final two seasons with the Cocoteros – the 2010 Clausura and 2011 Apertura campaigns – won the La Liga scoring titles with 13 and 12 goals, respectively ... moved to Motagua in November 2010, and began playing with the club during the 2011 Clausura season ... continued his goal-scoring prowess with his new club, again capturing the league’s scoring title for the third-straight season with a 15-goal effort ... his 15-goal season was the league’s highest single-season output by a single player since Carlos Pavon scored 15 goals in the 2007 Clausura season ... helped Motagua capture the 2011 Clausura title that season, leading the club to a berth in the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League ... was a visible presence on Motagua’s Champions League squad, appearing in all six group-stage contests and scoring one of the team’s two goals.
