American Exports: Castillo completes move to Tijuana

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – US international Edgar Castillo has inked a permanent deal with Club Tijuana.

The 25–year-old left back joined the club on a loan deal from Club América last winter. Castillo, who told MLSsoccer.com on a number of occasions that he hoped to stay with the Xolos long term, had a contract with las Águilas until December, but Tijuana have decided to step in and buy the player´s rights.

Club Tijuana are Castillo's sixth in Mexico since joining Santos Laguna as a teenager from home town Las Cruces, N.M. He enjoyed a meteoric rise for los Guerreros, but slightly lost his way in stints at América, Tigres, San Luis and Puebla.

Castillo's loan move to Tijuana rejuvenated his career at both club and country level, with “el Homie” a consistent starter for the Xolos. He played more minutes than any other outfield player at Tijuana last season.

He played the full 90 minutes for the US against Canada last Sunday.
