How Acquired: Signed with Red Bulls on Feb. 20, 2013 after New York acquired Steele’s MLS first right of refusal from Real Salt Lake in exchange for a conditional supplemental draft pick.
Steele is in his second MLS season after debuting with Real Salt Lake in 2012.
2013: Made his Red Bulls debut on Mar. 3 in the season opener against the Timbers when he subbed on in place of Ruben Bover in the 66th minute. Registered his first start as a Red Bull one week later on Mar. 10 in a 2-1 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes.
2012: Steele made his MLS debut on Mar. 17, 2012, when he subbed on with six minutes remaining in a 2-0 win over the Red Bulls. Two weeks later in a Mar. 31 match against the Timbers, Steele registered his first-career MLS goal in a 3-2 win. The following week, Steele earned his first start in a 1-0 win over the Montreal Impact. All in all, Steele finished his first MLS season with two goals and two assists over 28 appearances, including 11 starts.
2002 - 2011: Steele began his career with English side Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2002. He played for the Syracuse Salt Dogs in 2004, Rochester Raging Rhinos in 2005-06, and Irish club Ballymena United in 2005. In 2007, Steele was a member of the Carolina Railhawks of the USL First Division, a side he helped lead to the league’s regular season title. In 2008-09, Steele was a standout for the Puerto Rico Islanders, earning USL-1 MVP honors and helping his club with the league championship. In that span, Steele scored six goals in 49 matches. In 2010, Steele played for the Vancouver Whitecaps (then a USL side), before returning to the Railhawks on loan in 2011, and joining Real Salt Lake in 2012.
International: Steele has represented Northern Ireland at several youth levels and was part of the Under-19 squad that played in the 2005 UEFA Championship.
