MLS WORKS Community Service Program

Unite. Volunteer. Serve.

The MLS WORKS Community Service Program is a collaborative effort to combine sport and service, promote goodwill within MLS markets and improve lives and communities at the grassroots level. In 2009, the White House launched "United We Serve" - a nationwide service initiative - to help meet growing social needs resulting from the economic downturn. With the knowledge that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when given the proper tools, United We Serve aims to both expand the impact of existing organizations by engaging new volunteers in their work and encourage volunteers to develop their own "do-it-yourself" projects. United We Serve is intended to grow into a sustained, collaborative and focused effort to promote service as a way of life for all Americans.

MLS WORKS will continue to support United We Serve and galvanize the entire soccer community including MLS clubs, players, supporters groups, fans, ownership groups and corporate and media partners to participate in Unite. Volunteer. Serve. Click here for more information on United We Serve.

Community MVP Contest Presented by Wells Fargo

Each year, the League recognizes individuals who go above and beyond to make a difference in their community. One (1) Community MVP is selected to represent each of the 20 MLS clubs. Each Community MVP is recognized, both nationally and locally and receives a Local Prize Package.

Winners are selected based on their efforts in one or more of the following areas:

  • Social issues focusing on acceptance, inclusion, diversity and equality
  • Health issues affecting men, women or children
  • Community Service for a local, national or international charity or community organization

From June 15, 2015to July 5, 2015 MLS fans nominated themselves or another individual who set an example as a leader in the community and uses soccer as a tool to help make a positive impact.

Grand Prize voting will take place from July 10, 2015 - July 29, 2015.  The Grand Prize winner will be announced on July 29, 2015 during the halftime ceremony of 2015 AT&T All-Star Game.
