Vancouver Whitecaps aim for 3 points on Saturday, regardless of FCD-Timbers result: "We need to win"
VANCOUVER, B.C. – As the battle for the fifth and final playoff place in the Western Conference goes down to the wire, the different permutations that the Vancouver Whitecaps may face on Saturday are threefold. A victory, a draw and even a loss may all be good enough to send the Whitecaps to the postseason.

They've still got a gane left on the regular-season calendar, but with the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference locked up, the New England Revolution know they will host their first home playoff game – the second leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the East's No. 3 seed – on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 5 pm ET at Gillette Stadium (pictured).
A trophy, a playoff spot and Knockout Round byes are just some of the prizes at stake in the final weekend of the 2014 MLS regular season.
Heading into the final week of the MLS regular season there is only one playoff berth still undecided: The Vancouver Whitecaps are currently in pole position of the 5th and final spot in the West with a one-point advantage.
