2012 MLS All-Star Roster

GK: Dan Kennedy

Chivas USA

Age: 29     Nationality: USA  

One of the most reliable goalkeepers in the league over the past two seasons, Kennedy is making his first All-Star appearance. He posted a career-high nine shutouts for the Goats last season, and he's backed it up with a solid season in net in 2012 as the Goats eye their first postseason appearance since 2009.

GK: Jimmy Nielsen

Sporting Kansas City

Age: 34     Nationality: Denmark

Nielsen led his team to a 10-5-3 record through the first 18 matches of 2012, and was ranked first in the league for goalkeeper wins (10) and goals-against-average (min. of 10 games) with a 0.94 mark through July 8. This is his second All-Star selection since joining the league in 2010.

DF: Steven Beitashour

San Jose Earthquakes

Age: 25     Nationality: USA

A Bay Area product and a third-year pro, Beitashour has emerged as one of the top right backs in MLS. He leads the league in assists among defenders and has helped anchor the back line for one of the league's best teams this season. This is his first All-Star selection.

DF: Aurelien Collin

Sporting Kansas City

Age: 26     Nationality: France                  

One of the best center backs in the league and a fan favorite in Kansas City, Collin is making his first All-Star appearance. Since joining the league during the 2011 preseason, he has emerged as a tenacious presence on SKC's back line and an essential offensive threat on set pieces.

DF: Ramiro Corrales

San Jose Earthquakes

Age: 35     Nationality: USA

The longtime league veteran makes his first All-Star appearance, as one of two picks made by Commissioner Don Garber. Corrales is the last player still playing in MLS who suited up during the league's inaugural season in 1996, and he's still a valuable contributor for one of the league's best teams.

DF: Jay DeMerit

Vancouver Whitecaps

Age: 32     Nationality: USA                      

Known for his standout career in England and anchoring the US back line during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, DeMerit has translated his international success to MLS in less than two seasons in the league. Healthy again and piloting a surprising Whitecaps squad in its second season, this is his first All-Star appearance.

DF: Justin Morrow

San Jose Earthquakes

Age: 24     Nationality: USA          

One of the chief reasons for San Jose's rise to the top of the Western Conference this season, Morrow has been a steady presence on the Quakes' back line in just his third season in the league. Selected by head coach Ben Olsen as a replacement for the injured Heath Pearce, Morrow is making his first All-Star appearance.

DF: Heath Pearce

New York Red Bulls (injured)

Age: 27     Nationality: USA           

One of the most versatile defenders in the league, Pearce has thrived with the Red Bulls since a trade earlier this season from Chivas USA. He boasts 35 caps for the US national team and has played both left and outside back in MLS as well as center back and in the midfield. This is his third All-Star selection.

DF: Carlos Valdés

Philadelphia Union

Age: 27     Nationality: Colombia     

Since joining up with the Union during the 2011 peseason, Valdés has proven to be not only a steadying force for the back line in Philadelphia but also one of the best defensive newcomers to the league in recent history.  He makes his first All-Star appearance as one of two picks made by from Commissioner Don Garber.

MF: Osvaldo Alonso

Seattle Sounders

Age: 26     Nationality: Cuba/USA

One of the most tenacious ball-winners in the league today, Alonso earns his third All-Star selection while once again serving as the heart and soul of the Sounders. He enjoyed career highs in appearances (33) and goals (3) last season while leading Seattle to the Western Conference semifinals and a third straight US Open Cup title.

MF: Kyle Beckerman

Real Salt Lake

Age: 30     Nationality: USA      

Real Salt Lake's relentless captain is back for his second consecutive All-Star appearance and the third of his career. Arguably the face of one of the league's most successful franchises of the past four seasons, Beckerman had his best statistical season last year (three goals, nine assists) and is a regular for the US national team.

MF: David Beckham

LA Galaxy

Age: 37     Nationality: England

Now in his fifth full season in the league, Beckham enjoyed perhaps his best effort yet in 2011 and his first Best XI selection. He's returned this season to once again serve as the focal point of the Galaxy's offense as they look to defend their MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield. This is his third All-Star selection.

MF: Dwayne De Rosario

D.C. United

Age: 34     Nationality: Canada 

The reigning league MVP enjoyed his best season of an already storied career in 2011, and he's led D.C. United to one of the best records in the league this season. Always a threat to lead the league in goals and/or assists every season, this is his seventh All-Star appearance.

MF: Landon Donovan

LA Galaxy

Age: 30    Nationality: USA         
One of the most decorated players in league history, Donovan earned his MLS-record 12th All-Star selection this year. He captained the Galaxy to their third MLS Cup title – scoring the final’s only goal – and a second consecutive Supporters’ Shield  last year.

MF: Graham Zusi

Sporting Kansas City

Age: 25     Nationality: USA                      

One of the rising American stars in MLS, Zusi has emerged as both a dead ball threat and a proven playmaker for Sporting KC's wide-open offense. He notched five goals and a team-high seven assists last season and scored a goal against Panama while debuting for the US national team. This is his first All-Star selection.

FW: Thierry Henry

New York Red Bulls

Age: 34    Nationality: France

Henry scored a team-high 14 goals in 26 games during his first full season in the league last year, and led the Red Bulls to the Western Conference semifinals. He's returned this season to once again challenge for the Golden Boot and help spark New York to one of the best records in the Eastern Conference. This is his second All-Star selection.

FW: Eddie Johnson

Seattle Sounders

Age: 28    Nationality: USA         

Johnson makes his first All-Star appearance since his days with Kansas City in 2007, when he was one of the best scoring threats in the league. He's re-booted his career in Seattle this season, emerging as a threat to win the Budweiser Golden Boot while helping lift his new club to a fourth consecutive berth in the postseason.

FW: Chris Pontius

D.C. United

Age: 25    Nationality: USA           

Pontius makes his All-Star debut in the middle of his most promising season yet as a young pro. After scoring seven goals in a season shortened by injury last year, he's returned to challenge the top scorers in the league and spark D.C. United to one of the league's best records. 

FW: Chris Wondolowski

San Jose Earthquakes

Age: 29     Nationality: USA             

One of the best pure goal scorers in the league today, Wondolowski earned his second All-Star nod as the top vote-getter among fans across all three voting platforms. Wondolowski once again leads the league in goals this season while lifting San Jose to one of the best records in the league.
