When shooting multi-camera interviews, it's helpful to use a utility of some kind to sync up the audio and video from those cameras in the post-production process.

Sometimes it's done with a clapperboard (in the movies, it's the little black-and-white board with an arm that snaps down, usually with the movie name and scene written on it). In this case, FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea was our "sync popper", so I asked him to clap each time we started recording, which ended up being eight takes in all. He certainly made the most of his new responsibility.

Joao Plata was at the "White House" on Friday afternoon and his former club in Toronto couldn't seem any farther away.

Although there has been no official word from Toronto FC, the Reds fan favorite was holding up a Liga de Quito jersey in a press conference held at the Ecuadorian club's Casa Blanca, where reports indicate he will remain through the end of the year.

Plata returned to Ecuador earlier this week unbeknownst to TFC, who were expecting him to show up to practice earlier this week although they admit they were investigating a potential loan deal with his former club.

The 20-year-old did not appear under new Toronto manager Paul Mariner, who took over for Aron Winter, and Plata told FutbolMLS.com earlier this week that he did not figure in the Englishman's plans.

But they were happy to have him in Ecuador, if this photo from Friday is any indication.

KICK TV seems to be everywhere these days, so it's no surprise that they managed to get Chelsea star Salomon Kalou in front of the camera talking about Steve Nash's recent Showdown in Chinatown and his future in game.

Check out the video to hear what he has to say about MLS.

Poison are scheduled for a July 28 concert at Santa Clara University's Buck Shaw Stadium.

Ok, no, not really. But it is Steven Lenhart Wig Night when the San Jose Earthquakes host the Chicago Fire. Think people could tell the difference?

In honor of one of the most recognizable heads of hair in MLS – and oh yeah, his five goals on the league's best team aren't too shabby either – the Quakes will be giving out 2,500 blond wigs to fans.

Now all they'd need is some background music to complete the experience – that is, if it doesn't already come with the wigs.

The Scottish Premier League's loss just may be Major League Soccer's gain.

After the collapse of storied club Glasgow Rangers, their prized winger Sono Aluko is being linked with a move across the pond to the United States. According to a report from The Scottish Sun, the 23-year-old Nigerian international has declared publicly that he does not want his contract renewed, with the publication contending that the Houston Dynamo are leading the charge for his services.

According to the Sun, the New England Revolution are also in the hunt for the outside midfielder, who scored 12 goals in 21 appearances last season for 'Gers. The English-born Aluko spent three seasons playing for fellow SPL side Aberdeen – where he tallied seven times in 82 appearances  prior to joining Rangers. The report also mentions Championship sides Crystal Palace and Charlton as teams interested in Aluko's services.

If the Scottish Football Association agrees to transfer his registration, he could be set to make an immediate impact for whichever club he signs with.

Let's be honest, even Philadelphia fans didn't see that coming.

And while all the plaudits for Saturday's 4-0 thrashing of Sporting KC will go to Jack McInerney and Antoine Hoppenot, I can't help but think Carlos Valdes is getting the short shrift. The guy, not singlehandedly it must be said, shut down a front line in Teal Bunbury, Kei Kamara and C.J. Sapong that makes most defenses look, well, defenseless at least a couple times per game.

On Saturday, there was none of that at PPL Park. Valdes cleaned up any mess that entered his area, kept Zac MacMath from having to do much other than boot the occasional goal kick and generally bossed the area of the field SKC was trying to exploit. So in homage to Valdes performance, we've put together a highlight reel of his second half contributions. Frankly, it was the least we could do.

So sit back and enjoy, unless you're a Kansas City fan of course.

Since this week is dedicated to numbers here at MLSsoccer.com, I figured I would pass on some of the raw data and illustrations collected over the past few weeks in the hunt for fresh Opta Spotlight* ideas.

*On Friday, I'll examine the magnificent season Columbus' Andy Gruenebaum has put together with Will Hesmer sidelined.

Below are the touch charts for Clint Dempsey in the quarterfinal and semifinal at last summer's Gold Cup as well as the most recent qualifier in Guatemala under Jurgen Klinsmann's direction. Duece scored in all three matches.

What do these illustrations say to you? Is Dempsey playing a different role under Klinsmann than he did under Bob Bradley? I'll leave it to you to draw your own conclusions in the comment section below.

vs. Jamaica (2-0 victory - June 19, 2011)

vs. Panama (1-0 victory - June 22, 2011)

at Guatemala (1-1 draw - June 13, 2012)
