So, this is some great news for a Sunday evening.

Kicking + Screening Soccer/Football Film Festival--founded in 2009 and kicking off this week in New York City--has partnered with KICKTV, meaning they're about to deliver something that wasn't possible before.

The 4th annual K+S Festival begins on Wednesday night, but starting on June 30, KICKTV will launch an exclusive new 'Films + Documentaries' channel that will deliver some of the best soccer features anywhere to anyone that wants to see them all over the world.

Like what? Well, they'll be debuting with this:

K+S will also be advising KICKTV in terms of programming and film selection, so you know it will be legit.

Feel like checking out more of the trailers for some of the works in store? The KICKTV crew has a playlist made just for you. And as the presenting partner for the New York festival, they're giving away tickets. Awesome.

22 June 4:11 pm

UPDATE: The window for retweeting closed at midnight, and Franklin Bonilla (@TrueBlueInNY) has been selected as the lucky grand prize winner. Franklin, we'll see you and a friend tomorrow at 6pm ET at Sarah D. Roosevelt Park. Hope you dig soccer and famous people, and famous soccer people. Congrats!

The Steve Nash Foundation Showdown is one of those über-cool soccer events you wish you could see from up close. This year it's all happening on Wednesday, June 27, at 6:30PM at Sarah D. Roosevelt Park in Manhattan.

And guess what? We have two VIP tickets to give away.

Here's what's at stake:

  • The lucky Grand Prize winner can look forward to two front row seats to see some of the best athletes in the world battle it out, playground style.  Admission to the ultra-swag after party is also included and the lucky winner will receive two shirts from the New York Red Bulls. Boom.
  • Five runners-up will receive mystery gift packs from New York Red Bulls.

Entering to win is easy.

Make sure you're following @MLS and @KICKTV on Twitter, and then retweet the following message:

You and all your friends have until midnight on Monday to do this, after which the winners will be chosen at random, contacted via Twitter direct message and announced on Tuesday.

The Grand Prize Winner will pick up his/her tickets from the MLS Insider at the event, and the only catch is you gotta figure out a way to get there at your own expense by kickoff at 6:00 PM ET. Transportation will not be provided. If you can't make the event on Wednesday, June 27, we ask you decline the prize so we can select a new winner who can attend. The five runners-up will receive their gift packs in the mail.

So, what are you waiting for? Follow @MLS and @KICKTV and retweet the message above for your chance to win.

Great times had by all tonight at Stade Saputo, especially some of the Impact supporters, who orchestrated a serious march to the stadium from one of the pubs about an hour before kickoff.  I don't speak much French, so I couldn't tell you exactly what they were chanting, but I do know it was plenty of fun to see the looks around the neighborhood as the Ultras rolled through.

Little surprise, they kept it up all evening. Late second half...

15 June 9:13 am

Morning, everybody. Just under 24 hours completed here in Montreal, and so far the stay has been fantastic. Our crew touched down yesterday and while we're getting ready to cruise out to Impact training, wanted to share a few images from our visit to the new Stade Saputo.

Conclusion: You're gonna love it.

The Impact were kind enough to hook up the Extratime Radio crew with some space to record yesterday's show, then Impact owner Joey Saputo stopped by, work vest and all. Awesome, and I have a feeling he might be out there again today. The shot above is the pitch from the big guy's office, not a bad view, right?

This was pretty sweet. It's a little tough to make out, but that was the number two spelled out on the far side in the seats. That area of seating acts as a countdown clock of sorts for everyone working out at the stadium, with the number changing each day. According to Saputo, they've been changing the number in the middle of the night since the 24-day mark.

After the visit, the lovely folks at the new Football Cafe on Rue Saint-Denis took care of us for the Spain-Ireland massacre. If you're ever up here for a match, make sure you stop by.

Very nice, and very much looking forward to Saturday. We'll check back in soon.

Chicago Fire striker Dominic Oduro once bet his entire salary in a race against (the, in fairness, not professional athletes that are) his front office colleagues Brendan Hannan and Jeff Crandall. That might seem foolish, until you consider that Oduro thinks he is the fastest man in MLS.

The idea that anyone not named Usain Bolt would beat him in a race probably seems absurd to him, and it turns out that his confidence, in this case, was justified.

But apparently the Ghanaian's blazing speed is not reserved solely for the field. In the commercial below, you'll see Oduro get an entire shopping cart full of groceries in the five minutes until the supermarket closes and still have time for a shirtless celebration. If that's not impressive, I don't know what is.

Now when are we going to see him actually race someone so we can definitively settle the "fastest man in MLS" question once and for all? How about it, Dane Richards?

18 May 1:18 pm

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham was in Athens this week for the handover of the Olympic flame and helped fly it back to the UK as the build-up to the London Olympics cranks up a notch.

But he still doesn't know if he will be at the Olympics as a spectator or competitor, trying to bring home a gold medal for the host nation.

After much speculation and debate over his presence at the London 2012 Olympics, Beckham reiterated his strong hope that he will be wearing the Union Jack in his hometown this summer.

Beckham spoke openly in an exclusive interview with the BBC about his chances of making the final 18-man roster for Team GB’s Olympic soccer team. The man in charge of the Olympics in London, Lord Sebastian Coe, recently stated there is no pressure from his staff for Beckham to be selected for the games.

Beckham also agrees there should be no room for sentiment, stating he has never relied on sentiment in the past to make a squad or team:

"You don't play for a Manchester United team managed by Sir Alex Ferguson or an England or Real Madrid team managed by Fabio Capello and get picked on sentiment."

"I've been picked to play in many games over my career because of what I've achieved on the field and that doesn't change. I'm in good form, I've scored a couple of goals lately and I'm feeling fit and working hard. So yes, if I'm called upon of course I'm ready. I've always said I wanted to represent my country in any way, shape or form."

"I've done that for many years with England, and I hope to do that with the Great Britain team."

Team GB manager Stuart Pearce will be announcing his squad at the end of May, so Beckham has a few anxious days ahead of him.

17 May 4:33 pm

This week, Red Bulls defender on the turntables, Fox Soccer anchors working far too hard, and LA's trip to the White House see's some familiar faces pop up.

Don't forget to follow our two official Twitter handles to find out the latest from inside MLS

Red Bulls defender Solli has kept his love for music no secret in the past. Listen to his new mix, it's very, very good. Can we get #SolliFistPump trending?!

After helping D.C. to a shutout win over Colorado, Hamid was pumped to see some NHL stars waiting for him in the locker room. Scratch that, Bill was super pumped!

So Heath Pearce obviously knew a trade to the New York Red Bulls was on the cards. But he suffered from something we can only describe as premature tweeting, as he announced his official move from Chivas USA.... more than 3 hours before it actually became official.

The guys at Fox Soccer have been working hard lately, what with the climax to the EPL season and the Champions League Final just around the corner. Anchor Rob Stone claims they've been in overdrive....the pic suggests otherwise!

Galaxy striker Chad Barrett enjoyed his trip to the White House to meet President Obama. He also enjoyed meeting this guy, well, sort of.

If you see a soccer tweet that should be included in our top five, be sure to send it to the @MLS_Insider!

16 May 12:06 pm

So MSNBC host Chuck Todd may not be the biggest fan of MLS, or soccer in general. But is that really a reason to make snide comments about the LA Galaxy’s trip to see President Obama at the White House to be congratulated for their 2011 MLS Cup triumph on Tuesday?

As Todd read out the President’s daily schedule during The Daily Rundown, he quipped in a slightly bemused tone:

“As you can see, he… welcomes the Major League Soccer champions? All you LA Galaxy fans out there– does this mean Beckham shows up? I’m not sure. Is he really a member of the Galaxy or not?”

Todd went on to say, “No more soccer references. I promise.”

Fernando Fiore, host of the most popular sports show on Univisión (República Deportiva), took Todd’s comments to heart and reached out to Twitter to air his distain at the comments.

Fiore also tweeted in Spanish, “I am watching MSNBC and the commentary from a Mr. Chuck Todd over the LA Galaxy White House visit is deprecating. Why? Ignorance.”

You be the judge regarding Todd’s comments. For now it seems the beef is brewing between Mr. Todd and Señor Fiore.

Stay tuned, this could get meaty.

This week, US internationals pose all over Europe for photos, a soccer journalist examines a bizzarre photo of Arshavin, and Charlie Davies takes FIFA 12 to a whole new level.

Don't forget to follow our two official Twitter handles to find out the latest from inside MLS

US International Kljestan won his first trophy, as Anderlecht clinched the Belgian League title. This photo is very, well, euro. We like it. Congrats Sacha.

Former D.C. United striker Davies is back in France with Sochaux. He is causing all kinds of damage with his brother, over a video game.

Soccer journalist and presenter of the Best Soccer show, Davis gave three alternatives for photo captions which should have been used in this photo of Arshavin celebrating. Hilarious!

Gooch is looking suave in this magazine shoot for the latest edition of Men's Health in Portugal. Usually that kind of glance strikes fear into the opposition, but don't worry he's not angry, the US center back is in the zone for his close-up.

Martino is a thoughtful husband and a wonderful color commentator on NBC Sports Network. (P.S. check out his Twitter avatar, was this the result of his shaving mishap?!)

If you see a soccer tweet that should be included in our top five, be sure to send it to the @MLS_Insider!

10 May 4:50 pm

Ok, so I don't actually know where to start with this. Other than to say, this is amazingly awkward and I loved every single second of it.

Hermes, a former capo for the Portland Timbers, will have you in tears with his deadpan wit in this great new series “Off Pitch with Hermes.”

Above is Episode 3, but you can watch all the episodes on the Timbers website by clicking here.

I think Hermes says it best, when he states “do not be afraid of your own greatness!” Well, Hermes, we think your pretty great, so ummm....don’t be afraid.
